CAMPAIGN 2016-2020 : 4 MILLION DOLLARS
MAKE LE CHAMBON-SUR-LIGNON KNOWN
MAKE THE MUSEUM A “MUST – SEE” VISIT FOR SCHOOLS.
At a time when the last Holocaust witnesses are disappearing, Le Chambon-sur-Lignon has a duty of passing their stories from generation to generation. The place is open to all, historians, enthusiasts or experts, adults or children, passing travelers, grade school children and students. Already integrated into some history and school trips programs, the Lieu de Mémoire wants to welcome more and more visitors to continue making the story of the Righteous come to life.
TOTAL: $ 1,600,000
ENHANCE THE LIEU DE MÉMOIRE
INCREASE THE ACCOMMODATION CAPACITY OF THE MUSEUM.
A museum without any collection, the Lieu de Mémoire presents a journey tracing the history of Le Chambon-sur- Lignon from the Protestant Reformation of the 16th century until WWII, and a memorial hall featuring many testimonies. As a result to its initial success, the museum now has to develop and offer visitors an even broader and more diverse experience by building new spaces.
TOTAL: $ 420,000
CREATE AWARENESS - RAISING TOOLS
RAISE AWARENESS OF LE CHAMBON-SUR-LIGNON’S HISTORY OUTSIDE THE MUSEUM WALLS, CREATING AWARENESS – RAISING TOOLS ADAPTED TO VISITORS’ AGES.
History and remembrance do not stop at the museum doors. We want to make this learning experience continue once the tour is over, spreading our awareness-raising tools beyond the museum walls. These tools must be adapted to the age of the visitors, so that everyone can understand and remember.
TOTAL: $ 230,000
CREATE A UNIQUE SPACE
WHERE THE SCHOOL AND THE MUSEUM MEET AND COMPLEMENT EACH OTHER.
A venue that hosted Jewish children during the war, the Lieu de Mémoire is located in an area of the primary school in Le Chambon-sur-Lignon. Through the renovation of this space, we want to make it a place for sharing, like the courtyard that serves as both showroom and living space for Chambonnais children. During the holidays and summer, the renovated space will welcome seminars and workshops focused on the themes of the Lieu de Mémoire.
